The 240V AC Mains supply wiring should be fire resistant, between 1mm² & 2.5mm², fed from a double-pole isolating & fused (3A) spur. This should be secure from unauthorized operation and marked “Fire Alarm: Do Not Switch Off”.
The mains supply must be exclusive to the fire panel and the cable should be routed away from the other cables as it enters the control panel adjacent to the mains terminal block
on the right hand side.
Depending on panel load and standby requirements, two 12 volt sealed lead acid batteries (max 3.4Ah) may be fitted in the housing. The batteries should be wired in series (24V) using the supplied link-wire. Take care not to short circuit the battery terminals.System Wiring
All wiring must be installed to meet BS5839: Pt1: 2013, BS 7671 and other regional standards & legislation. This must be in 2-core 1.5mm2 screened fire resistant cable for each circuit. The cable screen must be terminated and connected to Earth at the control panel only, connected through at all other positions, and protected with PVC earth sleeving to avoid unwanted earth connections.Detection Wiring Zone
A maximum of 32 devices (i.e. Digital soccer draw serial number 2017. smoke/heat detectors & Manual Call Points) may be fitted to each circuit.
All devices must give an alarm resistance of 470R: old style devices which give a short circuit in alarm are not compatible or compliant.
The End of Line diode is provided in the Panel and must be connected across the terminals of the last device on each circuit to allow the cable monitoring and all detectors should be connected using a dioded base. The End of Line diode is polarity sensitive and must be connected with the silver stripe towards the positive core.Sounder Circuit Wiring

The Bucks Stop Here- Avoid Unnecessary Expenses & Equipment
StarLink Communicators are designed to be easy and quick to install in minutes. They are low current draw, so they eliminate the need for extra power supplies. StarLink Fire Communicators additionally eliminate using extra conduit for installation. Plus, StarLink Fire Dual Path Cell/IP Models are self-supervised, eliminating a supervision module, and they have 2 new onboard modular jacks for easiest FACP quick connection. All StarLink models have over the air software upgrades, so you’ll always have the latest technology, without rolling a truck. We stand by our equipment longer too — StarLink Communicators have Napco’s standard 3-Year Factory Warranty (including over-the-counter exchange) vs. the shorter period of many of our competitors. Speaking of which, unlike some of our competitors, who are no longer with us, or sell your products to Big Box Retailers or DIY online — we’ve been here, dedicated to the professional security channel alone, over 50 yrs. So no worries – we’ve got your back.
Why StarLink LTE Communicators are proven to work better – even where others won’t
Even in difficult LTE coverage areas, StarLinks work better because they use twin dual diversity antennae –both separated & independently spaced. Each antenna receives signals simultaneously, then, using Signal Boost™, StarLink signals are intelligently selected and combined, to maximize the signal & eliminate signal drop-outs. In contrast, single antenna competitors are more prone to multi-path effects, i.e., signal disturbances prevalent in large commercial settings, where signals can disturb or effectively cancel each other out—often unavoidable with a single stick antenna design. For still greater reliability and confidence, all StarLinks are preactivated to confirm proper communications, saving you onsite labor & time. Optional StarLink Omni-X Extended Antennas are also available for even extremely challenging locations, and for use on all Radio brands, coming complete with full mounting hardware (ground plate for Fire) & low-noise LMR-type cable of various lengths.
Code Compliant & AHJ-Friendly
StarLink Models meet or exceed the compliance codes for each of their applications, i.e., commercial fire, intrusion or connected services, so your jobs will too. Our many models, in ABS or Metal Enclosures, to meet local /regional AHJ codes, meet applicable UL and/or NFPA Codes. And we keep a dynamic document with downloadable compliance certificates by model online, all-in-one place for you, so you can pull one down and have it handy whenever the need arises. Plus, we have different Signal Plans, as required by different codes. And, avoid those unplanned monthly surcharges, too. That’s not who we are – StarLink offers unlimited signal plans as Standard.
Replace POTS land lines with cellular alarm reporting quickly and easily with code-compliant, panel-powered StarLink Fire Communicators. Don’t wait for copper lines to disappear in storm damage or be retired by the phone company - risking lives and liability in an emergency. Migrate or takeover lucrative fire alarm accounts, including millions of 12V and 24V FACPs, communicating via Contact ID or 4/2. Low-current usage, enables StarLink Fire to be panel powered, eliminating the need for extra power supplies, extra conduit run & transformer.
